While the most high-profile signing of the summer and last season’s top points-scorer have been straightforward selections for many, there are, as ever, thornier dilemmas elsewhere for the opening weekend. Captaining a player ensures they double the number of points they pick up, making wise decisions crucial for managers keen to cash in as much as possible and start off in style. To whom should you give your virtual armband?...

Not all leagues have enough roster spots to really take advantage of “stashing players,” but for those in deeper leagues (or those who have players on IR or disappointments worth cutting), our week-ahead watchlist will be useful. Stashing a player or two on your bench when they’re still free agents can really pay off if those players have good games. If they don’t, they’re easy drops. Your spot in the waiver order is valuable, and you want to hold it as long as possible....
