That may sound like a generously optimistic description of the way some managers expect Gameweek 9 to play out. We’re far enough into the season now for even newcomers to the game to know that transfers and teams never transpire quite the way you might epect. We’ll try to demonstrate just this with our updates on the leaders in each player position. You can see how the pattern gradually emerges over the course of the season, who is a flash in the pan and who is here to stay....

Manning obliterated the Ravens on Thursday night, throwing for 462 yards and tying the NFL record with seven touchdown passes. That's worth roughly 60 points in a standard fantasy league. Which brings up the inevitable question: Is Peyton Manning going to be the 2013 fantasy MVP? He's certainly got the weapons, as we saw Thursday night. Manning's first two TD passes went to TE Julius Thomas, who had a coming out party with five catches (seven targets) for 110 yards....

Some leagues don’t have enough roster spots to necessarily take advantage of “planning ahead,” but for those in leagues that do (or if you have players on IR or useless players you want to cut), our week-ahead watchlist will be helpful every week. Grabbing a player or two before the weekend when they’re still free agents can pay off big time if those players have good games. Your spot in the waiver order is valuable, and you want to save it as long as possible....

It’s all about winning this week for a bunch of teams, so swing for the fences with high-upside plays instead of playing your “usual defense” in a brutal matchup (and there are several examples of those this week). Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve looked at the trends that we are seeing in the Mock Draft Army. For those not familiar with the Army, allow me to quickly share: To avoid all the auto-drafting and computer players we see in some of the big sites’ mocks, I run about around 10 mock drafts across all different styles and formats each week. Half the draft room is filled with industry people from Fantasy Alarm, SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio and a variety of other fantasy sports websites....

We’ll continue to help you identify one-week solutions, but we’re not giving up on finding season-long value either. The waiver wire might be getting thin, but as injuries mount and bye weeks remove your fantasy studs from action, we have to prepare for all scenarios.
